Simple Morning Rhythm for Moms

Sharing is caring!

First of all, give yourself a pat on the back! You’re doing great mama! As a mama of 4 littles, ages 10 months to 10 years, I know about all the different seasons of life. The easy ones and the harder ones. But through all the seasons there’s one thing I can’t do this motherhood journey without. I’m ready to share it with you! It’s a simple morning rhythm for moms!

What Is A Morning Rhythm?

There are so many variations, everyone’s morning rhythm is different. But here’s the general concept. You find the things that are the most important to you to get done first thing in the morning, it might be reading a book for enjoyment, journaling, exercise, prayer, etc. Just remember this is a rhythm it should be able to flow with your life.

How To Make It Work

Start by getting up before the kids. Find something you’re excited to wake up to! For me, it’s my Bible, journal, and coffee or tea. But this could be meditation, workout, your current book read, prayer time, sitting outside sipping coffee or tea…whatever it is for you, do it.

For the love of everything, do not look at your phone! No emails, no social media, none of that. It’s so tempting to just grab your phone and see the latest updates from your friends or try to catch up on work, but don’t. This time is about you.

Now, you’ve found that thing you’re excited to wake up to, next start by writing 3 things down that are your main goals for the day. You can write more, but focus on just those 3. When your day gets going, the kids are running around, you need to fix lunch, there’s wet clothes in the washer…you can come back and center on those 3 main goals for the day.

Next, start 1 load of laundry. BOOM! You’ve started your day productive. By doing so you’ve already built momentum to get more done for the day. Bonus, you’ll avoid the laundry piles!

This time doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s simply to help you find a rhythm to get your day going, to help you have patience, and most importantly give you time for you.

Here’s A Look At My Simple Morning Rhythm

Sometimes I wake up late, sometimes they wake up with me, sometimes I’m rushing to get out the door. It’s fine, start over the next morning.

  • Wake up at 5:30AM.
  • Drink 2 glasses of water and start coffee.
  • I sit in my favorite spot with my current devotional.
  • Prayer time.
  • Read for at least 10-20 minutes of whatever book I’m currently reading.
  • Write down my 3 main goals for the day, look ahead at supper, and my 1 cleaning task for the day.
  • Start 1 load of laundry.
  • If little feet aren’t up and running around yet, I start cooking breakfast.
