WHAT ARE BIRTH AFFIRMATIONS

Birth affirmations are simply inspirational and positive sayings, scriptures, or birth mantras that help encourage and inspire you during your labor and birth. They’re not just for first time moms but for every mom they’re a great tool for coping with labor and birth.

Birth is beautiful and wonderful, but it makes mamas dig deep down inside and find their courage, bravery, and uses every bit of their strength. Displaying birth affirmations in your birth space or even memorizing them to repeat during your labor can help give you a positive mindset and even help you to remain calm during the most difficult moments.

WHY USE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS FOR BIRTH

Whether this is your first birth, second birth, or tenth birth using birth affirmations that mean something to you and inspire you is a powerful way to prepare for your birth and a positive experience, no matter where or what type of birth you’re planning. Birth affirmations can be used for home birth, birthing center birth, hospital birth, natural birth or unmedicated birth, medicated birth, and even a planned cesarean birth. Bringing a new life into this world in whatever way you choose isn’t always necessarily hard, but it’s usually always intense and having something inspirational to encourage you through the process can help tremendously.

FAVORITE BIRTH AFFIRMATION SAYINGS AND SCRIPTURES

These are some of my favorite sayings for my own affirmations as I’ve prepared for natural childbirth. But you can use your own birth affirmations that inspire you.

HOW TO USE PRINTABLE BIRTHING AFFIRMATIONS

So, there are a few different ways you can use these free printable birth affirmations. But my favorite way to use them is to print out, hole punch, and string together on one string to make a banner. Then, you can hang in your birth center room, hospital room, or wherever your delivery room might be.

Additionally, they are also great to use before labor and birth. Simply reading these printable birth affirmations daily leading up to labor and delivery can help to encourage you and place your focus on positive thinking of trusting your body and your baby. You can even display these on your bathroom mirror to read every morning and night.

Another option is to just choose to memorize a few of your favorite ones and revert back to those during labor pain. You may need to inform your spouse, doula, birth partner, or anyone that’s on your birth support team to remind you to use these during birth.
