Why You’ll Love These Strawberry Swirl Sheet Pancakes and Whipped Cream

  • Made from scratch, but so easy!
  • Made with simple ingredients you can find them at your local grocery store.
  • So easy to make and the best part, you won’t be standing over the stove flipping strawberry pancakes for 30 minutes!
  • The whipped cream is fluffy and delicious.
  • You can add a number of fun toppings like fresh fruit, red sprinkles, powdered sugar, maple syrup, and more!
  • Cutting the heart shape with the cookie cutter is a great way to make these pancakes a little more special.

Kitchen Tools

  • Baking Sheet – Be sure to use a baking sheet with a rim, I wouldn’t use a baking sheet any bigger than 15.5×10.
  • Large Mixing Bowl – I love this set of metal mixing bowls with lids! They are great for recipes like this, but also for transporting food!
  • Electric Mixer – It takes a little longer using an electric mixer, but it works just as well as a stand mixer for making the whipped cream.
  • Stand Mixer (optional) – If you have a stand mixer I think it’s the easiest way to make the whipped cream.
  • Heart-Shaped Cookie Cutter (optional) – You can simply cut squares of pancakes, but to really make this a fun Valentine’s Day breakfast for kids I cut out heart shaped pancakes!

Strawberry Swirl Sheet Pan Pancake Ingredients

  • All Purpose Flour – This recipe uses all purpose flour. My favorite is Organic King Arthur.
  • Cane Sugar – Simple cane sugar adds the sweetness to this recipe.
  • Baking Powder – Baking powder helps to make these sheet pan pancakes fluffy.
  • Salt – Brings out all the flavors of these pancakes.
  • Milk – You can use your favorite choice of milk. I typically use raw milk from a local farm.
  • Butter – Grassfed butter is my favorite! It’s so delicious and adds so much flavor to these pancakes.
  • Eggs – Using eggs helps bring all the ingredients together.
  • Vanilla Extract – Vanilla can sometimes be omitted, but it’s so good in these pancakes and whipped cream.
  • Strawberry Jam – You’ll find a recipe to make strawberry jam below! I promise it’s so easy!
  • Non-Stick Cooking Spray – I like using coconut oil spray for this recipe, but you can also use olive oil spray.

Strawberry Jam Ingredients (optional)

  • Frozen Strawberries – I recommend using strawberry pieces or chopping your frozen whole strawberries up in a food processor first.
  • Cane Sugar – This gives some added sweetness and makes this jam gooey.
  • Citrus Juice or Zest (optional for added flavor) – If you’re feeling extra, you can add a little juice to give more flavor to your jam.

Quick Whipped Cream Ingredients (optional)

  • Heavy Whipping Cream – Using full fat heavy whipping cream is what makes this whipped cream so fluffy!
  • Powdered Sugar – This helps to make the whipped cream sweet.
  • Vanilla Extract – Don’t skip the vanilla extract in the whipped cream, it really does give it the best flavor!

How to Make This Valentine’s Day Breakfast for Kids

  1. Optional Strawberry Jam – Prep the strawberry jam using the directions below.
  2. Preheat – Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  3. Prepare – Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper, then spraying it with non-stick cooking spray.
  4. Dry Ingredients – In a large mixing bowl combine the dry ingredients and sift them together using a fork. Set aside.
  5. Wet Ingredients – In a separate bowl, combine the milk and melted butter and mix well. Add eggs and vanilla and whisk until combined.
  6. Pancake Batter – Stream the wet ingredients into the dry, and stir just to combine. Allow the pancake mix to rest for 10 minutes before pouring it onto the prepared sheet pan. Tap the bottom of the sheet pan gently against the countertop to remove the bubbles.
  7. Add Strawberry Jam – Drop the strawberry jam into separate drops. Using a skewer or the tip of a paring knife draw swirls through the batter and jam.
  8. Bake – Place the pancakes in the oven to bake for 12 minutes. Then gently brush with melted butter before returning to the oven for another 14-16 minutes.
  9. Heart Pancakes – Remove the pancakes from the oven. Allow the pancakes to continue cooking/cooling on the pan for about 2 minutes before cutting with a heart cookie cutter. Be sure to place the cookie cutters as close together as possible to get the most out of the tray. Now, serve your fun heart-shaped pancake warm with whipped cream and any additional toppings! Add a glass of strawberry milk and heart-shaped fruit for fun!

Optional Strawberry Jam Steps

  1. Mix – Mix together frozen strawberries and sugar in a small pot over medium heat. Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and allow the berries to simmer for 3-5 minutes stirring often until fruit is broken down and mixture is thick and jelly-like.
  2. Optional Citrus Juice/Zest – For added flavor, mix in the citrus juice or zest.
  3. Storage – Set aside for recipe or allow to cool and store in an airtight container for up to one week.

Pour the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract into mixing bowl with an electric hand mixer or stand mixer. Mix on high until it begins to thicken up. Continue mixing until the cream looks light and airy. Store whipped cream in the fridge until ready to serve.
